Indiana Pacer Guard T.J. Warren scored 52 points last Saturday night against Philadelphia to lead the guys to a 127-121 win over the Sixers. This was a personal best for Warren, eclipsing the 40 points he once scored as a Phoenix Sun. Reggie Miller holds the Pacers’ team single game record with 57 points and Jermaine O’Neal is second with 55 points. Warren says that putting the ball through the hoop is what he does best. The win puts the Pacers at 40-26 and 1 up over the Sixers. The Pacer are 5th in the East with Milwaukee on top at 54-14. The Lakers lead the West at 51-16.
It is now officially claimed that Larry Bird stepped down as Pacer President because of owner Herb Simon’s unwillingness to spend big money to acquire and keep big time talent for the team. Superstar Paul George said the same thing. George claimed the team was simply too cheap to spend the money it would take to put together a championship team.
The Indianapolis Colts have started their closed-to-the-public training camp at their Westfield facility. The rookies are all signed and the most notable absentee is T.Y. Hilton who is on the PUP with a non-football related injury. Quarterback Philip Rivers is set in at quarterback and is getting familiar with his receiving corp. Right now no Colts player has chosen to opt out of the season because of the coronavirus. Not so with a number of other high profile players in the league who are taking the 2020 season off due to pandemic concerns. There is a growing list of NFL insiders who think the season should be postponed because of the MLB’s disaster with the Florida Marlins and the 18 players who tested positive for COVID 19 virus. We’ll see.
