First Responders Awarded Honors

INDIANAPOLIS — Citizens Energy Group was set to host the 52nd Annual Fire, Police & Deputy Sheriff’s Community Recognition Awards in early May. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the annual luncheon had to be canceled. Chief Randal Taylor along with Assistant Chief Christopher Bailey made a special visit to each honoree on behalf of Citizens Energy Group to present each award to honor those who risk their lives to save others.
IMPD honorees included Traffic Officer of the Year Christian Nielsen, Administrative Officer of the Year Brycen Garner, Special Services Officer of the Year Michael Woida, Community Service Officer of the Year John Wall, Investigations Officer of the Year William Wogan, Supervisor of the Year, Tanya Terry, Crime Stopper Officer of the Year Detective Sergio Humberto De Leon Rodriguez, and Reserve Officer of the Year Captain Bruce Wishart.
Each district also named an Officer of the Year. For North District, it was Connor Finch, East District was Katrina Matheis, Northwest District was De’Joure Mercer, Southeast District was Ryan Dienhart, Southwest District was Shawn Tidrow, and Downtown District was Kent Meier.
Rookie of the Year was Anthony Francis. IMPD’s Officer of the Year was named Jerome Barker.
