INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Flower + Patio Show, now in its 62nd year, features showcase gardens crafted by many of Indiana’s premier landscapers, hundreds of finer outdoor living experts and thousands of ideas, solutions and products to take home.
This year’s Flower + Patio Show will be held Saturday, March 14 through Sunday, March 22 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds – West Pavilion and Exposition Hall.
Besides the fabulous showcase gardens and lots of outdoor living vendors, this year’s show will feature appearances by Laura Dowling,  the florist for the White House for the Obama administration on Friday, March 20 and Saturday, March 21. Local gardening guru Jo Ellen Sharp will be at the show sharing advice about local gardening trends.
Check out Deck Wars, a competition among deck constructors in Central Indiana who will duel it out — designing and building the decks of your dreams. Each builder gets a 20×20-foot space in Exposition Hall along with materials provided by Trex. Flower + Patio Show attendees will choose the winner, decided on Friday, March 20.
No visit to the Flower + Patio Show is complete without a visit with the Purdue Master Gardeners. They will be on hand throughout the show to answer your garden and lawn questions.
Environmental and sustainable programs are some of the best attended in the show. This year, Bill Brown will explore hydroponics as a method of growing plants without soil, instead using mineral nutrient solutions in a water solvent.
If you spot something in an Indiana Flower + Patio Show garden you can’t live without, almost all plant materials, hardscapes, structures and decorative pieces at this year’s event are available at the annual Blooming Sale. When you see something for your own at-home landscape, talk with the onsite representatives of the garden where it’s displayed, and they will reserve the item for you. Then on the final Sunday of the show, March 22 at 5 p.m., you can pick up your new treasure.
There are hundreds of vendors, plant sales, garden art, and outdoor living designers in the halls with great ideas for your yard this spring.
Hours are Saturdays from 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Sundays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Mondays-Wednesdays 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, and free for kids 12 and under.
