Black Acre Brewing Co. Hit by Fire

IRVINGTON — On the morning of Saturday, Dec. 21, Black Acre in Historic Irvington experienced a fire in the back of the building. Firefighters were called to the scene, and businesses around the brewery were either closed or evacuated for everyone’s safety. The fire was contained, and the cause is being investigated.
Businesses in the strip were affected. Black Sheep Gifts set up a pop-up shop over the last shopping weekend before the holidays, and hundreds of Irvingtonians reached out to help employees of Black Acre by setting up a GoFundMe campaign to help offset their lost wages and tips. Jockamo’s Pizza suffered smoke damage and had to close briefly, but re-opened — filling its taps with Black Acre beer to help support their neighbor.
Black Acre Biergarten on Bonna Ave. opened for limited hours, as long as the weather holds. They have expressed gratitude for the many east siders and Irvington residents that have reached out a helping hand. They do not know when they will reopen the tap room on East Washington St.
