A NFL Football Team?

First of all I will admit that just about anyone watching the Monday Night Football game last Monday night was watching to see New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees set the record for NFL career touchdown passes. The former Purdue grad accomplished this in the first half with three touchdown passes which moved him to 540 total, one more than Peyton Manning. The crowd went wild and rightly so. The people on the other side of the ball, I will not call them a profession football team, seemed to have no clue as to why they were there and what it was that they were supposed to do. It was humiliating and shameful. Certainly it was Drew Breese’s night but for the Horse to just drop over and play dead was inexcusable This was the kind of lack of effort that falls on EVERYONE! You couldn’t blame the kicking game or the quarterback, or the girl bringing out water to the “players” on the field. Even Darius Leonard was out of focus. The Colts played like a punchdrunk, washed up club fighter who shows up, climbs in the ring, stumbles around like a zombie for three rounds, then collects his $20 appearance money and finishes by passing out heaving in the locker room toilet. In the end this ugly loss is on Frank Reich and the coaching staff
About the only thing you can say is that there were several players who displayed a lack of professional level talent and will not be with the team after the season ends. As a starter for the Colts Jacoby Brissett is 10-20 in 2017 and this year. That ain’t gonna cut it. The Horseshoe need a quarterback, a wide receiver, a cornerback, a defensive line, etc. The team has two games left. Last week I said the Colts would most likely beat Carolina and Jacksonville, both struggling teams. I’m not so sure now. Maybe it would be best if they did lose and improve their draft position in April. Anyway the Colts season will soon be over.

IndyCar Update

It’s been announced that Conor Daly will join the Ed Carpenter Racing team as the road course driver. He will also drive in the Indy 500. Ed Jones, whom Daly replaces, will join the DTM racing series in Germany.
Daly is a very popular driver in the Indy car series. He is 28 years old, and grew up in central Indiana. His best IndyCar finish was a second at Detroit in 2016. His best Indianapolis 500 finish was a tenth last May in 2019. He is a Type 1 diabetic. Good luck to Conor in 2020.

Raider Riot

The Oakland Raiders played their last home game in Oakland Sunday. In 2020 they will be the Las Vegas Raiders. 2018 started off in a promising way and the team finished their last season in the Bay Area on a high note but reality caught up with them and they finished in the bottom half of the league standings.
There was a fear that Raider fans might express their displeasure at the team’s move with a riot at the end of the game, so a whole brigade of police and security surrounded the outer edge of the field. The “Black Hole” didn’t disappoint. When the Raiders lost to an equally inept Jacksonville Jaguar squad, the fans went wild, screaming, fighting and destroying property. In other words acting like they normally do at the end of a Raiders game. One wonders if the Las Vegas fans will be equally as passionate about the team?
