The Black Hat Strut — Huge Success!

The First Annual Black Hat Strut was a huge success last Sunday, Oct. 6th in the Irvington Lodge! Everyone was mesmerized by the variety of costumes, makeup and dance moves these performing witches executed! They were not sure themselves how this would go, being their first event, but as anyone who attended can tell you, this was a theatrical performance extraordinaire! Tickets, silent auction proceeds and cider/wine sales raised over $4,000 for the charity Ascent 121 (a non profit that provides recovery services for central Indiana teen survivors of commercial sexual exploitation). The check will be presented soon. Black Hat members Nancy Lynch and Sue Beecher (pictured here) worked tirelessly on scripts, costumes and makeup. Andhra Norman Fairbanks was the remarkable choreographer, Julian Lynch led the percussion band, and Craig Rutherford and Zoe Reign managed the audio and music. Thanks to the Irvington Lodge for providing the venue, to Ash & Elm for cider with Ryan Mullins as bartender, and Lincoln Square for Lasagna and iced tea. Kudos to all the members of the Historic Irvington Black Hat Society witches themselves for their extraordinary work, both as models on the runway and the crew behind the scenes. They all made this a labor of love.
