Neighborhood Survey to Help Develop Eastside Quality of Life Plan

INDIANAPOLIS — The John Boner Neighborhood Center will be conducting canvassing over the next 3 months about the new Quality of Life Plan. In order to make the plan as representative as possible, volunteers will canvass the neighborhoods. Gather at John Boner Neighborhood Center (2236 E. 10th St.) at 9:30 a.m. on July 20 to survey the neighborhood in order to inform the development of the Near Eastside Quality of Life Plan. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to canvass, we will provide detailed instructions and training before heading out into the neighborhood! Canvassing your neighborhood will help us prepare for the Near Eastside Visioning Day and the refreshment of the Near Eastside Quality of Life Plan.
The Quality of Life Plan was created in 2007 to provide a representative voice for the Near Eastside. It includes over 200 objectives related to affordable housing, education, business and economic development, safety, leadership and neighborhood connections, family strengthening and livability. To date, over 91% of those objectives are completed or in progress. The Quality of Life Plan has led a variety of major changes on the Near Eastside that will impact the neighborhood for generations to come, which is why it is critical that we hear from each and every neighbor about their priorities, hopes and dreams for next generation of Near Eastside neighbors.
Volunteers will be entered into a raffle for prizes and snacks will be provided. E-mail Alicia Baker at abaker@jbncenters.org or call at 317-633-8210 ext. 2336 for more information.
