LAWRENCE — On Tuesday, March 26, a brief ceremony was held at the new Lawrence Police Department headquarters facility currently under construction, located at 5150 N Post Rd, where the final steel beam was lifted into place, marking an important milestone in the construction project, signaling the onset of the next phase of construction.
Citizens from across the community have joined Lawrence police officers, firefighters, and other city employees in signing the beam, which is the final one to be set into place in the new building.
“We are grateful for the community-wide support for our ‘Leave Your Mark’ beam signing generated, covering the beam in signatures,” said Lawrence Chief of Police David Hofmann. “Thank you to everyone who took the time to sign the beam, being a part of the legacy of our new home.”
