Despite a 42 point effort by backcourt phenom Carson Edwards, the Purdue men’s basketball team went down to defeat in overtime to the number 1 seeded Virginia Cavaliers 80-75 in the round of the NCAA Championship tourney at KFC Yum Center Arena. The Boilers gave Virginia all they wanted in regulation but ran out of gas in OT. Virginia advanced to the next round. So there was no Hollywood ending, the underdog team from the West, Lafayette but they have memories of an improbable and exciting 2018-19 basketball season. BTW, Carson Edwards’ tournament performance earned him the South tourney’s Most Valuable Player Award.
