“Terror” at Garfield Park

INDIANAPOLIS — Film historian Eric Grayson will screen the 1924 silent film, Terror, at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, at Garfield Park Arts Center, 2432 Conservatory Dr. A live score will be offered by pianist Roger Lippincott.
Terror, the monthly Vintage Movie Night, features actors Pearl White and Robert Lee. According to Grayson, everyone wants Professor Aldrich’s (Henri Baudin) new invention, Radiolinium. Aldrich has a nifty burglar alarm to make sure that any intruder will be caught immediately. Of course, this fails utterly, and the invention is stolen. Aldrich’s assistant, Roger Durant (Lee) is suspected, but the professor’s daughter Hélène (White) suspects Erdman (Paul Vermoyal), who has already been turned down in his bid to buy the invention. The professor has brought up Hélène with a “scientifically trained body,” and she uses her training to climb up walls and onto horses to find the thief.  Who is the real thief? Will Hélène end up with Roger?  This is the last film of serial queen Pearl White (1889-1938).
Admission is $5. Concessions $1. For more information, visit www.gpacarts.org or call 317-327-7135.
