The Indiana Fever have a new president and CEO Allison Barber. Ms Barber takes the place of Kelly Krauskopf who moved over to the Indiana Pacers as assistant GM. Tamika Catchings has moved into the position of Vice President of Basketball Operations. This is a big win-win-win for everyone concerned and shows the strength of professional basketball in Indianapolis.
Allison Barber is a Hoosier from Schereville Indiana so she is familiar with the “fever” of Indiana basketball. She was previously chancellor of Western Governor’s University and has a strong history of business administration.
Tamika Catchings is an icon Indianapolis professional. The 39 year old is the face of the Fever and she is a legend in Indianapolis women’s sports as a professional player, an Olympian and role model. After twenty years of successful involvement with the Fever and the city she can truly be called an Indy Girl.
The Weekly View congratulates both Allison Barber and Tamika Catchings on their new appointments and we are all looking forward to exciting accomplishments from the Fever’s front office and the team.
NFL Combine Closes
The 2019 NFL Rookie Combine came to a close on Monday the 4th The athletes displayed their skills and talked to various team representatives as well as the media. Ohio State quarterback James Haskins impressed with his strong throwing arm. Miles Sanders of Penn State cemented his place as the top running back available although there were several other backs who were impressive. Small school defensive end John Cominsky from Charleston surprised everyone with a strong showing. Defensive tackle Renell Wren of Arizona State moved himself up to 1st round consideration and he drew some interest from the Colts. Safety Darnell Savage had everyone talking on Monday with a very strong performance causing a number of scouts to claim that he could live up to his last name as a pro.
With the twenty sixth pick in the draft the Colts will more than likely have to pick from the second tier of athletes but there will be some strong candidates still available. Fortunately the 2019 class of interior defensive linemen is strong and deep so this an area the Colts have identified as an area of strong interest. The Colts will address some of their needs in free agency but this year’s rookie class has several hot prospects that have the attention of Colt GM Chris Ballard. The players individual pro days will tell a lot.
All in all, it was a productive and eye-opening combine.
