Scecina announces Class of 2019 valedictorian and salutatorian

INDIANAPOLIS — Katelyn Renee Hartman is the valedictorian for the Class of 2019 at Scecina Memorial High School, and Andrew Kriech Smith is the salutatorian.
Scecina President Joe Therber and Principal Joe Brettnacher, Ph.D., announced the valedictorian and salutatorian on Jan. 15. Katelyn is at the top of the class with a grade point average of 4.32. Andrew’s GPA is 4.27.
Katelyn plans to study chemical engineering at Purdue University. She is the daughter of Carl and Lisa Hartman, attends Holy Spirit Catholic Church and is a graduate of Holy Spirit Catholic School. Katelyn is a four-year member of the volleyball team, a Scecina Student Ambassador, and a member of the Academic Super Bowl team, Crusaders for Life, National Honor Society and the Red and Gold Going Green Club. She also participates in the Spring Musical.
Andrew, the son of Jason and Ruth Smith, is looking at attending either IUPUI or the U.S. Air Force Academy and majoring in mechanical engineering technology. He also is a Holy Spirit parishioner and school graduate. Andrew was a kicker with the Crusaders football team, has wrestled all four years and also played soccer. He’s a National Honor Society member and takes part in Scecina’s Bowling Club.
