Explorer Cadets Serve the Lawrence Community

LAWRENCE — On Dec. 5 at the City of Lawrence Government Center, Explorer Post #160 Cadets were recognized. New cadets were sworn in and a custom van was unveiled. The Explorer Post #160 is the longest tenured post in the state, with 33 years of service. The Explorer cadets contributed over 2,000 community service hours in 2018, and eight will continue their public service through volunteering in the U.S. Armed Forces. Currently, the post has 27 Explorer Cadets and added 8 at the ceremony.
Law Enforcement Exploring is a hands-on program through the Crossroads Boy Scouts of America, open to young men and women 14-20 years old, interested in a career in law enforcement or a related field in the criminal justice system.  The Law Enforcement program combines classroom training with ride-alongs in police vehicles, firearms safety, community policing, and much more.
