  IRVINGTON — The wreaths are up in Irvington thanks to the hard volunteer efforts of the Stanleys (Ed, Sharon, Maggie, Declan, Brian), Dave and Ann Skirvin, Betty and Maddie McGrath, Allie Barnes, Elain Lewis, Terry Lockward, Kathleen Porter, David Durban, and Sylvia Zimmerman.  A special thanks goes out to local businesses Jockamos Uppercrust Pzza, Lincoln Square Pancake House, and George Thomas florist, plus the Irvington Community Council.

submitted photoGroundbreaking ceremonies occurred at the site of the new Indianapolis Public Library branch to be located in the Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood at 2434 N. Sherman Drive. The $5.9 million, 15,000-square-foot library will replace the current storefront Brightwood Branch in the Brightwood Shopping Center that has served patrons since 1972. The new branch is scheduled to open at the end of 2019.

The University also honored three individuals with its “Wings Award” for service and success in helping the University achieve its mission and extend its legacy.
