Jeff Brohm to Louisville?

There is a hot rumor floating around that Purdue’s Head Football Coach Jeff Brohm will leave the Boilermakers to become head man of the Louisville Cardinals football program. Brohm is a Louisville native and played quarterback at Louisville Trinity. He played college ball at the University of Louisville and played six years as a backup quarterback in the NFL. He coached at both the college and pro level before landing at Western Kentucky to coach the Hilltoppers in 2013.His time at Western Kentucky was marked by great success. He joined Purdue in 2017 and led them to a 7-6 season and a win at the Foster Farms Bowl. In 2018 his team is currently 5-5 which included a 49-20 beatdown of Ohio State, then ranked number 2 in the polls. Brohm is much beloved in West Lafayette and  has a good gig with Purdue. He is, however, a Louisville kid and going to coach there would be going home for him. There are two games left on Purdue’s schedule, Wisconsin at home and Indiana at Bloomington. We probably won’t learn of Jeff Brohm’s plans until 2019.

Colts take it to Jacksonville

If you are a fan of defensive football, the Colts-Jacksonville game at Lucas Oil Stadium probably had you pulling your hair out. The Colts offense had an incredible first half. Andrew Luck threw three touchdown passes and tight end Eric Ebron scored three touchdowns — two pass grabs and one on a reverse at the goal line. Ebron is the jewel of Chris Ballard’s off season free agent acquisitions. The Colts defense could not generate a pass rush and gave up 26 points. They did come up with a key turnover at the end of the game to seal the victory. They are now 4-5 on the season.
Their next game is at home against the Tennessee Titans. You will recall that the Titans pounded the New England Patriots 34-10 last Sunday so the Horseshoe will have their work cut out for them.
Andrew Luck continues to show the league that he is really back. He is playing with that same fire that he displayed in his first three season as a Colt.
