Colts Happenings During Their Bye Week

While the Colts had the week off there were several occurrences that  brightened the team’s spirit and fan base during their bye. The team’s first draft pick, Quenton Nelson was named the NFL’s Rookie of the Month for October. The first offensive guard to be so named, Nelson has become that road grader guard the team has long been looking for next to Anthony Castonzo. Remember Darius Leonard, taken in the second round, was the Rookie of the Month for September. Both Leonard and Center Ryan Kelly were named to the NFL’s Mid-Point All Pro Team. Kelly, the 2016 Colts number one pick, is playing at an all pro level this season and Leonard has been a sensation at the weak side linebacker spot on defense. He leads the league in tackles. Offensive tackle Joe Haeg is the Colts 2018 Community Service Award nominee. Hoag is currently on the IR  but is a valuable reserve on the offensive line. The #4 jersey that Adam Vinatieri wore when he kicked his record-breaking field goal to become the NFL’s all time point leader has been sent to the Canton Hall of Fame for permanent display. Andrew Luck was named Comber Player of the First Half of the Season by Touchdown Wire Service. He is on pace for a career year.
There are no undefeated teams in the League now. The previously undefeated L.A. Rams took one on the chin from the New Orleans Saints 45-35. Tom Brady and the Patriots gave Aaron Rogers and the Packers a 31-17 smack down. This eliminates Rogers from 2018 MVP consideration and further continues Brady’s reputation as G.O.A.T. of the NFL. The Houston Texans squeezed out a 19-17 win over the Denver Broncos and are two games ahead of the Tennessee Titans for first place in the AFC South, with a 6-3 record. The Titans beat the woeful Dallas Cowboys 28-14 and are now 4-4. The Colts are tied with the Jacksonville Jaguars at 3-5 for 3rd place in the AFC South. Both had byes this week and they will meet in Lucas Oil Stadium this coming Sunday.
