2018 Access and Inclusion Awards Honor Disability Advocates

INDIANAPOLIS – On Wednesday, Oct. 24th, during National Disability Employment Awareness Month, the Mayor’s Advisory Council on Disability announced its 2018 Access & Inclusion Award recipients.  At a ceremony at the Indianapolis Artsgarden, Mayor Joe Hogsett presented a total of 4 awards to the following individuals and organizations:
• The James Pauley Lifetime Service Award – Jane Scott, About Special Kids
• The Accessibility Award – Visit Indy
• The Employer Award – Community Health Network
• The Exceptional City Service Award – Tonya Jenkins, Indy Parks & Recreation
The Mayor’s Advisory Council on Disability partnered with Tangram Business Resourcing for the 2018 Access & Inclusion Awards. These awards highlight individuals and organizations within the community who go above and beyond to support and celebrate people with disabilities.
Prior to the awards ceremony, employed members of the disability community, as well as businesses who practice inclusion engaged in a public discussion forum. The goal of the conversation was to encourage business leaders to consider the positive effects people with disabilities have in a workplace, both economically and socially.
