• There will be a neighborhood cleanup in the Christian Park area Sat., Aug. 25 from 8-11 a.m. KIB is sponsoring the event, and will supply gloves and trash bags. All are welcome to come out and help. Meet at the Christian Park Family Center, 4200 English Ave.
• The 2018 Indiana State Fair drew 860,131 fairgoers over its 17-day run, Aug. 3-19. The fair attracted a record number of fairgoers on its second $2 Tuesday promotional day by bringing in more than 91,000 guests through its gates, making it the highest attended weekday in fair history. Perfect weather in the middle of the fair lead to the second highest attended five-day stretch in fair history. The 2019 Indiana State Fair will run Aug. 2-18.
• The Irvington Presbyterian Church Country Fair on Sept. 29 is still seeking outdoor vendors for the event. The application is available in the church office, 55 Johnson Ave., or online at www.irvpresby.org.
• Fine artists are invited to be part of the first Pennsy Trail Art Walk that will take place Sept. 22 from 2-5 p.m. on the Pennsy from Arlington to Audubon. For more information on displaying works and guidelines, visit irvingtondevelopment.org and go to “Events.”
• On Sat., Aug. 25, there will be an all-day celebration of mountain and hammered dulcimers at the Irvington Library, 5625 E. Washington St., from 10 a.m.-4:45 p.m. Then, there will be a jam session and concert from 6-8 p.m. at Irvington Presbyterian Church, 55 Johnson Ave. Admission is free.
• Buck Creek Players and the family of Blaine Jarrett recently announced that this year’s Blaine Jarrett Memorial Scholarship recipient is Brittany Davis. Ms. Davis was presented her scholarship on Sat., Aug. 11 at the 8 p.m. performance of The Rainmaker. The Blaine Jarrett Memorial Scholarship Fund is managed by Buck Creek Players and is supported by donations and fundraising efforts. She currently attends Anderson University and is majoring in Musical Theatre.
• IMPD will host a Cops & Waters meeting on Wed., Aug. 29 from 4-6 p.m. at Foundry Provisions, 236 E. 16th St. This is an informal coffee and conversation meeting with East District officers. All are welcome.
