Beech Grove Project Receives Federal Funds

BEECH GROVE — On June 26, MPO Executive Director Anna Gremling presented Beech Grove Mayor Dennis Buckley with a check for $410,836 to help pay for a multi-use trail along Thompson Road.
Beech Grove was one of the 15 communities and agencies in Central Indiana to receive federal funding for the 8 foot wide path. The path will run on the north side of Thompson Rd. from 9th Ave. to Emerson Ave. Sidewalks will extend north from the path along both sides of Yazoo Dr. to and through the Woodmont Court and Oakmont Court intersection. It will provide safe options for pedestrians and bicyclists.
The total project cost is $585,909, with 80 percent of it covered by federal funds through the Metropolitan Planning Organization. The project is slated to begin in 2023.
