85 Trees Planted in Irvington

Last Saturday morning neighbors and volunteers pitched in to plant 85 Trees that KIB provided (Molly Wilson, KIBI lead arborist was in charge). This happened because back in late June 2017, a handful of neighbors put their heads together in a pub planning session, in an ongoing response to the urban canopy needs. Charles Miller (Irv Garden Club/HICC), and Katie Schlafer & Patricia Waters (Irv Green neighbors/IDO) each filled out KIBI Community Trees 2018 applications, and were awarded trees. Patricia lives on Butler — so she’s the one to thank for the new trees on Hawthorne, Butler & Spencer south of Washington St. Now the neighborhood will be tree-lined again. There will be another tree planting on Sat. April 21st, 9 a.m. in front of Christ Lutheran Church (345 N. Kitley) — come volunteer.
