First Friday Events Celebrate Light and Art

INDIANAPOLIS — Radial Point, a First Friday art show, will have ‘Light’ as February’s exhibit. One of Radial Point’s fan favorites, come see how the artist uses the art of light manipulation to make a great exhibit. Light refreshments will be served, as well. The show will be held at 2327 E. 10th, E. 10th Street United Methodist Church, from 6-8 p.m.
The Harrison Center will present Quantum Leap, a First Friday artist reception from 6 to 9 p.m. The Harrison Gallery features the work of Owens + Crawley, the artistic team of Quincy Owens and Luke Crawley — two artists who combine arts and science into their work — a perfect link to Indiana Humanities’ Quantum Leap program.
Also at the Harrison, the Speck Gallery features MANmade: a Frankenstein show. In celebration of the 200th anniversary of the publication of Mary Shelley’s novel, Frankenstein, a group of artists who, after reading and discussing the book, have created art in response. This group show includes work by Matthew I. Allen, Lydia Burris, Andrew Perry Davis, Elyce Elder, Elizabeth Guipe Hall, Kipp Normand, Emma Overman, Merle Pace, Kyle Ragsdale and Benny Sanders.
Indianapolis resident John Sherman will offer visitors a wide selection of photos, posters, essays, articles, and war-time ephemera, all related to the West African country where he lived twice in the 1960s, as well as his recent visit in June 2017, at an exhibition opening on Fri., Feb. 2.
The Circle City Industrial Complex Artists (CCIC Artists) will host a variety of artists as part of the February First Friday art tour, with many artists tailoring their shows on the notion of “love,” in line with the holiday. Love can take many forms, and art has been a strong way to personify, perceive, and interpret love. The CCIC is located at 1125 Brookside Ave.
