On Sunday, September 10th, a gathering of people responded to a call from the Irvington Association of Ministers and the Irvington Community Advocacy Network (ICAN) to gather together and love your neighbor. The Peace Rally continued its three-year tradition with prayers — in English and Spanish — from ministers, priests and rabbis. Mayor Joe Hogsett informed the crowd about the deaths of two young people the previous night, and asked that they join with him to help stop the slaughter, as we “cannot do it alone.”
Donna Marks stood in the crowd with a sign saying “Take A Stand – End The Hate,” as the Irvington Presbyterian Church choir — led by choir director Amy Studabaker — joined with the group in singing “What a Fellowship, What a Joy Divine.”
