Despite very cold temperatures and a smattering of snow, the 40th Annual Irvington Luminaria was a big success Dec. 18. Many people went to the Irving Circle and enjoyed holiday cheer and cookies, had their pictures taken with Santa in an antique sleigh, and sang carols. There was even a proposal on the Circle as lights glittered around the happy couple!
Started in 1976 by our very own Rose Mary Clarke, the Luminaria has endured as a holiday tradition in the historic neighborhood. It is an opportunity for the community to get together and have fun, for businesses to invite people to their doors just before Christmas.
