INDIANAPOLIS — The Julian Center has lots of giving options for individuals, families, and groups who are looking for ways to help those in need this holiday season.
“We appreciate gifts of toys, but what domestic violence survivors and their families really need are the essentials — socks, underwear, hats, gloves, and gift cards,” said Catherine O’Connor, president and CEO for The Julian Center. “This can be a fun way for church and youth groups, book clubs, scout troops, sports teams, and families to make a difference together over the holidays.”
To make sure they have the needed items, The Julian Center will host themed-giving weeks throughout the holidays. Items can be dropped off at The Julian Center at 2011 N. Meridian St.
• Nov. 21 – 25 — Socks
• Nov. 28 – Dec. 2 — Winter Accessories (hats, gloves, scarves)
• Dec. 5 – 9 — Underwear
• Dec. 12 – 16 — Pajamas
• Dec. 19 – 23 — Gift Cards (No more than $50 for Target, Walmart, Kroger, Marsh, or prepaid Visa or MasterCard)
Individuals who would like to do even more can Adopt-A-Family, where participants assemble and anonymously donate a gift package for a whole family that includes: 2 outfits for each child under 18, winter accessories, four “fun” gifts per child, and a $50 gift card for the parents. The Adopt-a-Family program books up quickly. Applications are due Nov. 18.
