Self Published Author Fair, Sat., Aug. 20

After a successful author fair in February, Bookmamas repeats the event with a new set of authors on Sat., Aug. 20. Books range from a picture book, Caroline Girls, by Heather Chastain to fiction to a nonfiction selection. Eight authors will exhibit at the store.
The Sisters in Crime will be here to talk about their anthologies of short mystery stories. The latest, Decades of Dirt, features stories set in Indiana — The Crossroads Of America. Earlier anthologies concern basketball, NASCAR racing and the Indianapolis 500.
If you need encouragement, read Faithful Sunshine, by Lisa Duda. This story emphasizes God’s involvement in the protagonist’s life.
Francesca Quarto writes Young Adult literature about a teen girl who uses the magic she learned from family members to solve problems. Other books also feature teenagers. Madalyn Kinsey’s books, The Ghost of Cheney Creek and The Mystery of the Gatewood Airport, tell stories of teens in Marion and Hamilton counties. Janet Tilley’s books, Coming About; Jasper’s Gift; Rogue’s Hollow; Embody and I’m Not Listening, also feature teenagers and center on friendship in all its permutations and the paranormal. What a winning combination!
Sarah McClure’s entry in the fair is titled The Search.
Michael Leppert’s new book, Contrary to Popular Belief: A Chronicle of a Progressive in Indiana, tells the story of a Midwesterner who blogs on local and national political issues. A portion of the proceeds of his book will aid the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library.
This is your opportunity to talk with authors about their writing and publication process. Each author has an interesting story to tell-both the story in the book and the story of birthing the book.
Join the authors on Saturday, August 20 from noon-3 p.m. at Bookmamas, 9 Johnson Avenue.
