Howard Laut (5/12/1923-6/10/2015) was a self-taught artist who lived in Irvington his whole life. He was father to Jack Lashbrook of Jack and Jill’s Antique Mall of Irvington (5501 E. Washington) after Jack’s parents died when he was six years old. This year during Jack and Jill’s Anniversary Open House, Saturday, May 7th they will honor his memory by displaying dozens of his oil paintings (which will be for sale).
Howard earned his G.E.D. in 1964 at the age of 41 and then went on to and graduate from Indiana Central with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1969.
Howard and his wife Jenny attended Irvington United Methodist Church and he was born on University Avenue. He started painting after retiring as an accountant from Farson Printing Company.
