From The Indianapolis Star, Friday, February 25: It was announced at the annual inspection of Company A, Signal Corps, Indiana National Guard that Indianapolis aviator and balloon manufacturer Captain George L. Bumbaugh has offered the use of a regulation aeroplane to the signal corps. If Gov. Ralston approves establishing an aviation corps, Indiana will be one of three states to have this addition to the signal corps. New York and Nebraska are the only states currently having squads of flying men in connection with the signal corps. Captain Norman A. Nicolai, commander of Company A, Signal Corps said a member of the company will be sent to a school of aviation and eighteen men will be assigned to the section to learn the art of flying, if an aviation corps is authorized. Practice will be at the Speedway.
