• The IRT will host a “Pay What You Can” Community Night on Wed., Jan. 13 for the 6:30 p.m. performance. Patrons are welcomed to pay what they can to see The Mystery of Irma Vep, a hilarious production where two men will play 7 characters and undergo more than 30 quick costume changes. Tickets can be purchased the day of the performance at the ticket counter. Ticket office hours begin at 11 a.m. Suggested amounts would be $1, $5, $10, $15, $20, $25 or more. • Footlite Musicals will be holding Auditions for the musical “Gypsy” on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. Auditions will be held at 1835 N. New Jersey St. (parking in the Footlite parking lot). The show runs three weekends staring May 6. For specific times please go to footlite.org Needed are adults for singing and non-singing roles, six boys from 16 to 25 who can sing and dance, three boys from 7 to 12 who can sing and dance, and one girl from 7 to 10 who can sing and dance. • Herb Society of Central Indiana will have a meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 1. at the John Hensel Gov. Center, 10701 N. College Ave. Dan Minear, owner of Humboldt County Tea Company, importer and tea blender of fine teas, will share the goodness and benefits of loose teas. He will also share brewing tips and samples of savory, mint and sweet teas. His fine blends of tea are available at local farmers markets. Following the presentation, there will be a sampling of a variety of savory and sweet mini tea sandwiches and treats prepared by society members. • Angela Brown, soprano with the Metropolitan Opera, will appear at All Souls Unitarian Church, 5805 E. 56th St.), during Sunday Service on Jan. 17 at 10:30 a.m. to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday. Afterward, a community lunch will be available at Harris Hall for $5 per person, $15 per family.
• The January Blues party at the Stutz Artists Association will be held Jan. 8 from 5-9 p.m. There will be an opening reception for works of nearly a dozen Stutz artists. The Stutz is located at 212 W. 10th St., with gallery in B110. The event is free and open to the public.
• The Music of Star Wars: A Detailed Look at John Williams’ Orchestral Scores, will be presented at the Irvington Library Jan. 12 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. This multi-media presentation by music scholar Aaron Krerowicz showcases the music of all six films by John Williams.
