INDIANAPOLIS — Heartland Films, in partnership with the Stewart Family, will present two days of classic Truly Moving Picture Award-winning films starring silver screen legend Jimmy Stewart, plus a special 2016 Heartland Film Festival announcement, Dec. 11-12 at The Athenaeum in Indianapolis. The event will also feature the Honorary Oscar given to Jimmy Stewart at the 1985 Academy Awards.
Film titles include Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (Fri., Dec. 11 – 7 p.m.), The Philadelphia Story (Sat., Dec. 12 – 4 p.m.) and holiday classic It’s a Wonderful Life (Sat., Dec. 12 – 7 p.m.). Tickets are $8 online at heartlandfilm.org, or $10 at the door. Heartland Film members receive complimentary admission to The Philadelphia Story. The films will be screened at the Atheneum, 407 E. Michigan St.
Kelly Stewart, daughter of Jimmy Stewart, will be in attendance at the Dec. 12 screening of It’s a Wonderful Life and will share stories about her father after the screening. Kelly, on behalf of the Stewart Family, will also join Heartland Film President Stuart Lowry for a special announcement of an all-new award in honor of Jimmy Stewart, set to debut at the 25th annual Heartland Film Festival.
