From The Indianapolis Star, Wednesday, December 8, 1915: The military requirements of the warring European nations have drained the United States of every high power search light. This fact was learned in many cities around the country by the demand for high power lights created by the recent celebration of Electrical Prosperity Week. Many firms wanted to use search lights in connection with special illuminations in observance of the week’s celebrations, but were unable to obtain them. In Indianapolis, Charles E. Tuohey of the Sanborn Electric Co. said that the company wanted three search lights last week and received the same answer that was given to the many other requests for them throughout the country. Every American manufacturer of search lights has a waiting list of at least six weeks.
