From The Indianapolis News, Tuesday, March 30, 1915: The Indiana Peace Society held its first annual meeting last night at the Y. M. C. A. Speakers expressed the belief that the world was never more in need of peaceful movements than at this time, and members were urged to awaken the people of Indiana to the dangers of militarism by cooperating with of all peace societies such as the Woman’s Peace Party, of which Jane Addams is president, and the American League for Limiting Armaments in a campaign of education and publicity. The Rev. Joshua Stansfield of Indianapolis was elected president and Charles W. Fairbanks was named honorary president. Other officers elected were Demarchus C. Brown, vice president; James M. Ogden, treasurer; Alvin T. Coate, auditor; and the Rev. Morton C. Pearson, secretary.
