INDIANAPOLIS —With only a few weeks to go for sign-ups, the Great Indy Cleanup for Warren Township on April 25 can still use volunteers and organizers. Last year’s participation set a record for KIB’s Great Indy Cleanup program — there were 420 community cleanups total. Two million pounds of litter and illegal dumping were collected in 2014, with the help of 18,000 volunteers.
So far, several Irvington-based groups have signed up, including South Butler/South Irvington, Irvington Neighbors, Mission Place Neighbors, Irvington Clean Ups, George Julian #57 School, and Downey Ave. Church. Community Heights Neighborhood Association has also signed up.
A Warren area community group is also looking for volunteers to clean up the 21st and Mitthoeffer to Cumberland Rd. portion of the far eastside. They will be gathering on the 25th at 9 a.m. at Eastridge Elementary School, 10930 E. 10th St. Contact coordinators Jane Glover at 432-2521 or Veronica Tyler at 894-0872 to sign up and get more information.
Visit www.greatindycleanup.com to register your group online.
Keep Indianapolis Beautiful will provide dumpsters, cleanup supplies, and support for the cleanup efforts.
