INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Repertory Theatre (IRT) will present a special production of The Velveteen Rabbit in the IRT Cabaret Nov. 22 through Dec. 13th. The classic children’s story tells of a little boy and his favorite stuffed animal. Together, they learn about life, love and growing up. The Exploring Stages program is a new endeavor for the IRT and seeks to introduce programming for very young child, specifically ages 3-8 years old.
The Velveteen Rabbit has received many adaptations throughout the years, but IRT resident playwright, James Still, beautifully creates a story for the stage which captures the innocence and simplicity as seen through the eyes of a child. The general admission setting will be in the IRT Cabaret theatre with attention to every detail including a child-scaled performance space where children can sit on carpet and have the chance to see the actors, costumes and design up close without the formality of a traditional theatre environment.
Tickets are $15 for adults, youth and students $8 and 2 years and under are free. For tickets, call 635-5252 or visit www.irtlive.com. The Indiana Repertory Theatre, Cabaret is located at 140 W. Washington St.
