Dr. Vickery Honored by Town of Cumberland

On October 5, the Town of Cumberland inducted Dr. David E. Vickery into Honors Park, recognizing his 31 years of service to the Cumberland community.
Dr. Vickery has worked in Cumberland most of his career, taking over Dr. James Garrison on his retirement.
At the ceremony, Cumberland resident John Harrold noted that “doctors are the best teachers in the community.” He also said Dr. Vickery’s practice was an example of “genuine community-based servant leadership.”
Former and current patients gave brief testimonials during the ceremony.
Dr. Vickery’s name has been inscribed on the plaque at Honors Park, located on the southwest corner of Saturn and Munsie streets. His name is also inscribed on one of the bricks in Honors Plaza, located in front of Town Hall at 11501 E. Washington St.
The Parks Advisory Council recognizes an individual who has lived or worked in Cumberland and has displayed distinguished service to the community. Past recipients of the award are Donald Engerer, Virginia Jones, John and Elisabeth Kroetz, Bob Shedlock, Ora Callahan, W. Max Hendryx, and many others.
