From The Indianapolis Star, Monday, September 7, 1914: Today marks the opening of “Made in Indianapolis Week,” under the auspices of the Chamber of Commerce. Exhibitors will have their products on display in the windows of downtown stores to acquaint people of the city and state with the diversity of items valued, at more than $160,000,000 (2014), a year manufactured in Indianapolis by more than 1,000 factories. Yellow, black and white banners and pennants decorate the streets and the fronts of buildings. Evening band concerts will be given in Monument Place and moving pictures with scenes in the streets, parks and factories will be shown. Among the articles featured in the exhibits are house and office furniture; men and women’s clothing; automobile castings; brass and malleable castings; paper boxes; veneers; meat products; canned food stuffs.
