John C. “Papa Jack” Eichacker passed away on August 21 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Jack Eichacker had an enthusiasm for life and a passion for making his corner of the world a better and more humane place. His positive attitude and infectious smile made him a friend to and a welcome guest in Irvington and the east side. Jack and his lovely wife Mary Jane were the kind of people that folks just gravitated to. Jack and Mary Jane were both active in Irvington and very positive influences and shining role models for any Irvington family. Jack had a beautiful family whom he adored — wife Mary Jane, sons Richard and Philip, daughter-in-laws Joyce and Jill and 4 grandchildren. Mary Jane was his best friend and their love for each other was an inspiration to us all. Jack Eichacker is a prime example of a life well lived. Jack has gone to be with his Lord but he will always live in the hearts of all who knew him. Vaya Con Dios Jack, until we meet again.
