Last Weekend of Marion County Fair

INDIANAPOLIS — The Marion County Fair got off to a great start June 20, and the fun shows no signs of letting up. Be sure to head out on June 27 for the Demolition Derby ($5 admission), the Pacers Fan Van, the 4-H Livestock Auction, and stage entertainment.
On June 28, it’s kid’s day featuring Megan Nicole in concert. Check out the cheerleading contests, the Durham Working Dogs Dog Show and Dog Agility Show, and the Demolition Derby. Special guest Will Allen of Growingpower.org will be on hand at Peaceful Grounds on the fairgrounds, doing a worm composting demonstration. Allen is a former pro basketball player who turned his skills to going back to the land; he’s widely considered the father of urban farming. Be sure to stop by Peaceful Grounds for this educational and entertaining session.
Allen will also be on hand for the Farm & Art Market ribbon cutting on Sunday, June 29. The day will be about the future, including day-long robotics competitions, remote controlled airplanes in flight plus RC airplane flight simulators. Entertainment by the 860th Army Air Corp Swinging Sergeants Band, Island Breeze Trio, and much more will round out the busy day.
