INDIANAPOLIS — Eagle Scout Tony Wooten, a student at Franklin Township Middle School East, created a memorial as his Eagle Scout project to honor officers from Indianapolis Police Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Department and Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department who were killed in the line of duty. In addition, Tony created an Honor Wall to display East District Officers of the Month. The memorial was dedicated on May 8th at East District IMPD headquarters with speeches by Chief Rick Hite and East District Commander James Waters. Tony is the first person in his family to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout and many of his family members were present for the dedication. National Peace Officer Memorial Day is May 15th.
