From The Indianapolis News, Wednesday, April 30, 1913: The People’s Concert Association chorus will sing “The Swan and the Skylark” and the Minneapolis Orchestra will play an afternoon and evening performance at Tomlinson Hall on Monday to benefit The News Flood Relief Fund. Seats have been purchased for Indianapolis public school children to attend the matinee, and the public schools are acquainting the children with the music by having it played from records. At Calvin Fletcher School No. 8, Miss Helen Loeper is taking special interest in having the children go to the concert and is giving talks to the children under her about the music. She regards the concerts especially valuable from an educational standpoint as the program will be made up of pleasing compositions. ”
