INDIANAPOLIS — Senior citizens have new choices to receive healthy and balanced meals thanks to a $30,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation given today to the Community Health Network. The grant will allow the Community Touchpoint to expand its À la Carte Senior Meal Program to three additional hospital sites including Community Anderson, Community South and Community Westview.
“À la Carte is part of our Touchpoint senior services program that provides healthy meals, increased availability and opportunities for social engagement,” said Shelley O’Connell, Community Health Network director of Touchpoint Integration. O’Connell said the closing of a large local senior center and other environmental and economic factors have increased “food insecurity in our community. Hunger is a daily reality for far too many of our older neighbors.”
