WCHS/WCC Showcase/CareerFest Feb. 7

INDIANAPOLIS — On Feb. 7 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Warren Central High School and Walker Career Center will host their annual Showcase in conjunction with CareerFest.
The Showcase will include teachers from all departments and counselors who will share information and answer questions about all classes and extracurricular activities. This is a great opportunity for parents and their children to get the information they need to make wise course choices for the 2013-2014 school year. Visitors will also be able to talk with staff about all the opportunities Warren Central and Walker Career Center has to offer.  The new Warren Central MediaPlex will be open for career exploration.
Parking will be available for CareerFest in Lots 8 and 9 at Warren Central, which are located east of the WCHS football field.  After parking, participants may take a short stroll to CareerFest via the door just off parking lot 9 (Door 62), the WCHS main entrance (Door 1) or WCC main entrance (Door 70).

Scholarship Applications Due March 31

INDIANAPOLIS — The Blaine Jarrett Memorial Scholarship Fund, a fund managed by Buck Creek Players, is pleased to announce the availability of the Blaine Jarrett Memorial Scholarship. Any graduating high school senior or college freshman who is currently enrolled or accepted into a performing arts related major/minor at a college or university is eligible to apply.  Majors/minors which will be considered include: dance, theater performance, technical theater, instrumental music, vocal music, or related field.  Recipients will be based on the applicant’s participation, accomplishments, and involvement in the performing arts in the Central Indiana region.  Recipients will receive a minimum scholarship of $1,000. Applications are available to download on the scholarship’s Web site and must be postmarked no later than March 31, 2013 to be considered for a scholarship this year. The Blaine Jarrett Memorial Scholarship Fund was started by Blaine’s family and friends. The first scholarship awards were made in 2008 when funding reached a sufficient level to allow meaningful annual scholarships to be awarded on an on-going basis. The fund has since been growing steadily thanks to the contributions of a variety of donors and various fundraising activities.  Additional donations are continuously being sought and can be sent to BJMSF, 11150 Southeastern Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46259.


Lutheran HS Alum Honored for Academics and Athletics

INDIANAPOLIS — Two Lutheran High School Indianapolis alumnae, Amanda Korb and Anna Lewer, recently were recognized for their exemplary performance both on the playing field and in the classroom.
Amanda Korb (LHSI 2010) was named an All-America Scholar Athlete at Valparaiso University for the 2011-2012 school year. A softball player at Valparaiso, she has been playing since she was very young, and played at Lutheran all four years.
Anna Lewer (LHSI 2009) was given Capital One NCAA Division III Volleyball Academic All-American honors. Lewer, a senior at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, has been playing volleyball since she was in fourth grade.
