• Congratulations to the New Palestine Dragons, who will be heading into the semi-states Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. at home, taking on the Castle Knights for a shot at the state finals in 5A. Good luck!
• The Autumn Art Fair at the Garfield Park Arts Center will be held Nov. 21 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Nov. 22 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Great collection of artisans and craftspeople from all over. The even will be held at the GPAC, 2432 Conservatory Dr. in Garfield Park.
• Robert Snow is going to be at Bookmamas on Nov. 22 at 1:30 p.m. launching his new book, Portrait of a Past Life Skeptic: The True Story of a Police Detective’s Reincarnation. Bookmamas is located at 9 S. Johnson.
• All Indianapolis Public Library locations will close at 5 p.m. on Wed., Nov. 25 and remain closed on Thurs., Nov. 26 for the Thanksgiving Day holiday. All libraries will reopen at their regular times on Fri., Nov. 27, with the exception of the Flanner House Branch, located within the Flanner House Community Center, which will be closed on Friday.
• Indianapolis resident Linda Porter has been honored with the Hoosier Environmental Council’s 2015 “Climate Advocate of the Year” award. After losing two loved ones to cancer, she poured herself into grassroots activism that eventually evolved into inspiring action on climate change. Today, she is one of Indiana’s top climate change advocates through her work with Organizing for Action.
• Congratulations to ArtMix, formerly known as VSA Indiana, for being awarded the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award for Urban Artisans, a project that educates the disabled in the arts. ArtMix is located in the Harrison Center for the Arts at the corner of Delaware and 16th St.
• Eskenazi Health’s main campus has achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification, making it among the first and largest new hospital campuses in the United States and first in the state to achieve this recognition. The Eskenazi Health campus was recognized for its use of green space, a parking program for low-emitting and fuel-efficient vehicles as well as for those who choose to carpool to work, water-efficient fixtures, the material used during the build, how construction waste was disposed of and many other elements.
