• The City of Greenfield has undertaken an interesting — and difficult — project to preserve the history of a part of the city.During World War II, photos of those in service were displayed in glass framed panels on the courthouse lawn. The panels somehow survived in the basement of the Hancock Memorial Building. There are nearly 1,000 photos. The panels are being carefully opened and the photos placed in archives. They are also gathering stories and more information about the panels. Check it out at Hancock County Heroes only at hancockcountyheroes.org. If you have any information about the collection or have documentation of a veteran that could be added, contact Jim McWhinney or Dave Goodrich at the City of Greenfield.
