INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Public Schools recently announced that their 2015-2016 Teacher of the Year, Amy Wackerly, is a finalist for the state Teacher of the Year title. Mrs. Wackerly is among the top ten teachers selected from across the state to interview for Indiana’s top teaching honor.
Wackerly has made an impression on many students, educators, and families during her time as a 3rd grade teacher at Center for Inquiry School 2. She consistently shares the importance of community service and lifelong learning with her classes. This isn’t the first time Mrs. Wackerly has received recognition for her dedication; she was CFI 2’s Teacher of the Year in 2002 and made the district’s top ten finalist list that year.
Mrs. Wackerly is in her 16th year of teaching, and is regularly called to present at conferences regionally, nationally, and even internationally. She has been published several times on educational research and best practices, and she recently worked with Purdue University to develop curriculum and professional development to promote student interest in science.
