They’ll have 21 of them on the roads by the end of the year. IndyGo is also installing a solar panel system on the roof of its garage to help offset the cost of charging the buses. The buses get about 130 miles on a single charge.
• After three and a half weeks and over 8,000 miles traveled through Europe, Gregg Nowling, Media Specialist from Arsenal Tech High School, has returned to share his experience. Nowling was one of five IPS teachers awarded a Lilly Endowment Teacher Creativity Fellowship for this summer. As a huge fan of the hit show Dr. Who, Nowling was challenged by a student to visit the last standing call boxes (familiar to Dr. Who fans as the TARDIS) in England. He used his grant to fund this experience and documented the trip to share with his students. Now that he has returned, he plans to use his findings to write a book and build a full-size replica of the TARDIS.
