• The Irvington Farmer’s Market is Sunday, July 13 from noon-3 p.m. The vegetable and fruit harvest season is starting to get into full swing, so bring shopping bags to fill with goodies. Go for the tomatoes, stay for the great music, community fellowship, and kettle corn. The market is held at Ellenberger Park, 5301 E. St. Clair.
• Speaking of farmer’s market, there is a Wednesday farmer’s market from 4-7 p.m. in front of the old Lazy Daze Coffeehouse, 10 S. Johnson. Check out the vendors and support local producers!
• The City of Lawrence is now accepting applications for firefighter recruits. The minimum requirements are 21-35 years old, a U.S. citizen, a valid driver’s license, and no felony convictions. Obtain applications from the Lawrence Fire Department, Office of the Chief, 9001 E. 59th St., Ste. 204 in Lawrence.
• There will be a Concert on the Irvington Circle July 12 from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Audio Diner will be playing, sponsored by Jockamo Pizza and Central ACE Hardware. This free concert is family friendly, so bring a lawn chair and the kids. The road will be closed to traffic before and after the concert.
• The city of Greenfield will review the proposed Park Impact Fee Plan at the July 14 meeting of the Plan Commission at 7 p.m. at Government Center in downtown Greenfield. The public is invited to attend the meeting.
• The next Near East Area Renewal meeting will be held July 21 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the John H. Boner Center, 2236 E. 10th St. Topics for discussion will include landlord registry and proposed local ordinances. Neighbors are welcome to the meeting.
• The Epilogue Players will present On Golden Pond July 11-27 on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $13 or $12 for seniors and students. The Players perform at 1849 N. Alabama St. Call 926-3139 for reservations (required).
• Spend the evening with the Muse on July 13 at 7 p.m. at the Writer’s Center, 812 E. 67th St. (just behind the Indianapolis Art Center foyer). Little Flower resident Richard Pflum will be reading from his work. Don’t miss it!
• Beech Grove Parks and Rec. will present a program on rain forest creatures on July 15 at 1 p.m. at Hornet Park Community Center. Kids are encouraged to come out and meet some of these fascinating animals. Admission is free.
• The first Bark in the Park event at Victory Field was such a big success, they’ve decided to do it again. On Aug. 27, the Indians will play and you can watch it with your fur best friend for $20.
