IRVINGTON — There will be a Life Celebration and silent auction in honor of photographer Pamela Mougin on May 31st from 6-9 p.m. at the Bona Thompson Memorial Center, 5350 University Ave. Doors open at 6 p.m. for an art viewing. The silent auction will held from 7:00-8:30 p.m. with live music, guest speakers, refreshments, and more. The closing celebration will be capped with the releasing of doves. The auction will involve over 60 original pieces of artwork hand painted, color printed, and black and white, from Mougin’s career.
Pamela Mougin’s photographs were known for her bold original and innovative styles. Among her subjects were Sheryl Crow, Eddie Murphy, Sugar Ray Leonard and Larry Bird. Pamela’s techniques of making pictures and then hand-painting them helped her garner a name for herself among the professional athletes and their families, beginning in the mid-1990s with Bird and former Pacers coach Larry Brown. In addition to her portraits, Pamela’s work extended to various collections of fine art ranging from Cuba, Greece, Africa, Paris, as well as, the restoration of the West Baden Angels, and many others. The Bona Thompson Memorial Center’s West Baden Angel Exhibit is Mougin’s creation just before she died.
Proceeds from the silent auction will be used in supporting the creation of A Touch of Heart Foundation, a foundation that encourages exploration, discovery, and self-expression through various workshops that use art as a form of healing.
