Tactical urbanism has been installed to test traffic-calming and pedestrian safety improvements before committing to permanent construction. In 2023 and 24, Community Heights had a temporary tactical urbanism experiment on 10th between Arlington and Emerson, which lead to fewer speeders.
Neighborhood groups have been concerned for years over speeding and reckless driving in the area. There have been several accidents as drivers speed through the heavily residential area. Little Flower, Grace-Tuxedo and others went to the city for help. Community Heights collaborated on the project.
This is also part of a broader initiative to enhance the East 10th St. Cultural District. The experiment will continue through Nov.1.
