Applause!: June 19-25

• To mark the Juneteenth holiday, all locations of the Indianapolis Public Library  will be closed on Friday, June 19, except for the InfoZone at the Children’s Museum, which will be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Closures will primarily affect city-county offices, post offices, and banks. Trash pickup will be delayed by one day, so Friday trash days will slide to Saturday. IndyGo will operate on Saturday bus schedules.
• Another hit to our wallets is coming, thanks to AES. Their Summer 2026 Fuel Adjustment will be effective June through August 2026. They will be charging an additional $9.52 per month for a household using 1,000 kWh of electricity (about 7.3% higher). According to AES, higher-than-expected natural gas costs during winter led to an approved temporary tracker increase.
• GEO Next Generation Academy will host a NE Corridor Connect and Town Hall on Tuesday, June 23 from 5-7:30 p.m. at the school, located at 4010-4020 N. Sherman Dr. It is a chance to connect to residents, schools, nonprofits, and public agencies to collaborate throughout the Northeast Indianapolis Corridor. Free to attend.
• On Sunday, June 21, Arts for Lawrence will host their 3rd Sunday Jazz Concert at the Fort Ben Cultural Campus, 8970 Otis Ave. from 4:30-6:30. The concerts this year will serve as presentations of Unsung Giants, Brandon Meeks’ award-winning project honoring the overlooked influence of Indiana jazz legacy artists. The show is free, but reserve space with tickets on Eventbrite (eventbrite.com), and search for 3rd Sunday Concert.
• Garfield Park will have a Carnivorous Plant Show on Saturday, June 27 at the Conservatory in the Gazebo Room at 1 p.m. Find out all about these unusual and fascinating plants. Admission is $7 per person, or $15 per family. Garfield Park Conservatory is located at 2519 Garfield Plaza Dr.
• Mark your calendar for a House Concert on Monday, June 29 at 6 p.m. at 1230 Riley Ave. with Charlie Ballantine, a beloved and talented jazz guitarist. This is a free concert with a $20 suggested donation. You must RSVP online at clearvibeshouseconcerts.com/rsvp
• Every Thursday, The Hill takes place at 6 p.m. for a free community fitness experience at Lawrence Park, 5301 N. Franklin Rd. Walking, jogging, running is encouraged. It is free to attend, and a great way to meet people.
• Beech Grove will host a Block Party on Friday, June 26 starting at 5 p.m. along Main St. There will be local artists, food, music, and a showing of the movie Remember the Titans at dusk. Patriotic costumes are encouraged!
