Community Health Network Foundation Names New CEO

INDIANAPOLIS — Community Health Network Foundation has named Derek B. Groves, Ph.D., as its next President and Chief Executive Officer, succeeding longtime leader Joyce Irwin, who will retire on July 3 after nearly 14 years in the role. Groves will begin his role on May 18, 2026, as part of a planned leadership transition.
He currently serves as interim president of the University of Toledo and UT Medical Center Foundation, where he leads philanthropic strategy, governance, and organizational alignment during a period of transition. He has more than 15 years experience growing philanthropic support for organizations.
Groves holds a doctorate in organizational leadership and a master’s degree in organizational management. His academic research focused on leadership’s role in shaping organizational culture, performance, and employee engagement.
Joyce Irwin will remain in her role through July 3 and assist with the leadership transition.
